Thread: Attach an EA to a same pair with different settings

Default Attach an EA to a same pair with different settings

I have an EA that i would like to attach on 2 different chart but on the exact same pair (GBP/USD). The reason for this is that i need to use 2 different parameters to avoid drawdown etc.

Can this be done in some way? I tried it for the first time yesterday by just attaching the EA on the same pair but on 2 different charts. It seemd as it was just taken the EA i attached latest into considiration.

Please advise. I don't know elsewere to turn with this question.

    Regards / JoLi

    Hi jolimoney,

You just need a different magic number for the two charts.

    Hi Funyoo.

Thank you for the answer. I did have 2 different magic numbers. The first chart/ea had 12 as magic number. The second chart/ea had 21 as magic number.

Does it need to be a larger magic number to work perheps?

    Regards / JoLi

The coding inside the EA is poor and selecting its trades poorly.

Could you please explain what you mean? Something particualr you are thinking about?

Below i have attached a screenshot of the situation. The right chart is the second chart i set up and as you can see by the orders below it onlt takes that EA in considiration. I do have different magic numbers.

I would like to have a more visual representation of where the actual trades would have taken place on a tick by tick basis. I hope I made that understandable???

    Default 2 Magic Numbers?

    SPECIAL REQUEST:

Funyoo, do you have an EA that is a multistrategy EA that uses two different MAGIC NUMBERS to control the openings and closings of the two different strategys in the one EA?

If so I would like to see it so I could see how the coding is done to control both. Thanks.

    Hi stevensouders,

I had some EA with different magic numbers but I don't remember which EA.

It is easy to do, you just need to put the magic number as external inputs in the wanted functions and to copy the part of the code that generate the orders and if needed the one that generate the signals.
