Thread: Metaquotes History Data Gap

  1. #1

    Default Metaquotes History Data Gap

    I am experiencing large data gap in Metaquotes historical data on different brokers and currency pair.
    Data is missing from 07 May 2010 to 8 July 2010.
    Practically is a two month data gap on all pairs and computers that I have tested. Good work Metaquotes.
    If anyone has a history file not corrupted save it. You will need it later.

    Please leave a message if you have the same problem or if it's ok.

    Hi daxc,

    Metaquotes has decided to not update their history data anymore.

    Try to work with dukascopy data, it can take some time to have the final fxt files but then you have real tick data and can get 99% of modeling quality.

    It seems that like Alpari UK, Alpari RU has also stopped to offer their data.

    You will probably need to do this once you have generated the fxt files :

    Open the fxt files with Hex Editor and replace the 0110 line with

    Code:
    01 00 00 00 1C 96 98 00 01 00 00 00 03 00 00 00
    It will set minlots and maxlots size and will avoid weird 131 errors (it happened to me).

    The problem with dukascopy data is that you can not do a backtesting on more than 12 months as MT4 can't work with a fxt file size more than 2GB. You will need to optimize on 2010, then to test on 2009, 2008 and 2007.

    You should start with one pair to understand the method also as you could get some issues like to have only partial data.

    In download_dukascopy_data.php, replace :

    Code:
    $currencies = ... ;
    With :

    Code:
    $currencies = array("EURUSD" => 1175270475);

    in $currencies = array("EURUSD" => 1175270475); what exactly represents the number 1175270475? Is it a date? For different pairs is different number?
