Thread: Forex Shocker

Which people have been talking of late?

...but yes, 5 BIG losses in a row the past two trading sessions. My account has taken a significant hit because of this r - but then again, so have the live accounts of the developers too. Just take a look at their website.
It will take my account a long time to recover from this

It just seems that there's some bizarre trending actually occuring during the "quiet" session it trades in.... and always against it.

Forex Shocker has been updated to version 1.1
Nothing game-changing about the update, other than:-
    * the ability to comply with FIFO rules (by allowing you to set max trades per pair)
    * no sunday night trades (not that I've ever seen Forex shocker ever do this)
    * trade context busy message problem handled
    * Comments on trades

    Also, this little message:-
"We are currently working on additional enhancements for Forex Shocker. Although drawdowns are inevitable, we are analyzing ways to reduce them as much as possible."

Unsurprising given forex shocker's lousy performace a couple of days ago.

    Default Expert review on Shocker_V1.1

    Shocker 1.1 problems

Has but one context test only at the beginning of many trade modifies.
Is not refreshing price data and will be subject to off-price errors
Still does not account for slippage x (y) option properly on 5 place systems.
Does not make freeze or SL level tests to avoid "Invalid Price" errors.
Error reporting appears non descript by error code only with generic comment.
    ***************************

This only shows a poor tech side. Shocker programmers are driven, but have no knowledge of how to code for live trading, not to mention 5digit broker and ECN.
    **************
And that's besides the trading logic critique.

    Another rookie version.

I wonder if the authors of Forex Shocker are worried yet. Just take a look at their live accounts!
and this is even with their point upgrade

This bot is taking in some repeated losses, and I am tired of having my profits now wiped out with this bot.
It just seems that the USD is trending during the 2 hour window in the trading session -- taking all related pairs along with it.
I'll be using EURGBP and EURCHF from now on. They are the most profitable pairs in the long run anyway

Switching to EURGBP and EURCHF won't solve this problem. I lost big on 3 hanging short positions when EURGBP started heading north right after Shocker's time window closed. Eventually it powered right through the high of the day, hitting all three of my SLs. Needless to say, the 3 small wins that occured prior to this were dwarfed by these 3 big big hits at the 32 pip SL. It didn't help at all that they took it right back down to where it stared during the European session.

I agree with Neo-Rio about recent trending during the "quiet" session, but I don't think its bizarre. Shockers range box was right between the 32% and 50% fib retracement of the day's rally from the previous day's low. Not exactly a good "resting" place -- that location had explosive potential, either to the upside or the downside. Not a good place for a mean-reverting type EA like Shocker to hang around. Have you looked at the volume bars during the time when Shocker is trading and after? Some are less than 10 lots on my broker's platform. With that kind of low volume, a few players can really move the market. How many Shocker users are there now? How many of us had nice juicy stops hanging out right at the high of the day. Can we really rule out stop running?

Still, I don't think its so much a problem with Shocker as with how we are using it.

    Default Loosing by design

This type of "MyLucky/Thunder/Shocker/Blaster" robots with ridiculously inverted risk reward ratios are designed for doom when applied to real $$$ to begin with. They attempt to survive on very thin profit margin that will never hold in live trading dew to spikes, broker/system execution errors, rollovers, connection losses, etc.

This is an over trading with horrific MM.
That will never work in real life.
They sell you on quickie/backtest/demo hype. It just doesn't work in real market. Let's face it.
