Thread: vForce Like EA

Thanks so much maximf and funyoo for new version 2.03 !!

One suggestion about posting the ".set file" which some people have trouble opening to look at, could the poster just list the parameter values that they set different than the default values so one can view without opening the .set file each time. We can make the changes manually on the charts on the "input" settings.

    thanks,
    hammy

    Hi,

I have just finished reading the whole thread! Well done guys. It looks good. I have a few questions.

    1) I'm not sure which time-frame is being used. I have seen a mention of H1 and also M15.

    2) The pair seems to be just EUR/USD. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    3) Has a change been incorporated or not to reduce the occasional big losses after a trend reversal?

    4) How come there is no GMT offset?

I hope I haven't asked questions already answered. I agree that many newcomers to the thread don't bother to read it properly. That is not my case

    Cheers

    Yes, me too. Finally.
I would clearly state the H1 timeframe.

published by funyoo on 05-10-2009. The version extends the EA as follows:
    - The functional decomposition had been applied to the code.

-Buy/Send/Trailing stop update results are logged to journal,
    including GetLastError result description.

-Added maximal spread, allowing to prevent trading when broker's spread
    is too high.

    - Current, minimal, maximal and maximal allowed spreads are displayed
    in the chart window.

    - Trading state (trading/waiting) is displayed in the chart window.

    - It is possible to set font size and color of the information,
    displayed in the chart window.

    - Trading algorithm left intact.

I'm using some EAs for trading, all of them require setting GMT offset.
Why isn't it required for this EA?

There are some places in the code that I've failed to understand.
These places by are marked: just perform search for funyoo.
Funyoo, please review the code and approve the changes.

I would be glad to get feedback for the changes.

    Good trading,
    Maxim

    Hi Maxim,

Thanks for posting version 2.3. I have done about 5 hours of testing on it and it is only opening long positions. I notice that this was an issue Funyoo referred to back in post 3 or 4 as an error in the code for short positions.

Let me know if you get different results. I've been trading for ten years and doing forex for 2, but I know how easy it is to screw with the strategy tester parameters and get very different - wrong - results...... :-)

    Thanks

    Default My backtesting results

    Hi all,

I've run a test on history from january and up to now.
To my great pity, the EA is a looser-it failed to recover from
few bad trades. It also fails to update trailing stop loss.
Could anybody fix the trailing stop loss issue?
Additionally, a backtest takes a very long time:
a day for each month,-is it normal?

    Maxim

    Hello kat.miles,

Can you please tell me how to work with a strategy tester correctly?
I'm a software engineer and all the world of trading forex is new for me...

I don't put much stock into backtesting, since it seems to me that the forex market has really changed in 2009. I will test Vforce 2.03 live to really see how it performs, to me this is the only test that matters. I will give it a month or so to see what it can do. I will post results, good or bad !

    cheers,
    hammy

I have been running forward testing on this EA and here is the roller coaster chart. I feel that The rule of exit needs to be modified --> when we are losing, we need to cut loss earlier. Overall, it is still positive on H1 but failed on M30 and H4.
