    Default Optimizing problem

I was wondering why when ever i do optimizing for a particular pair it always comes back with the same problem. That is it says "there were 1 passes done during optimization, 1 results have been discarded as insignificant".

Even if i do a backtest and for example it was a profitable one and then i do some more optimizing for the same period i still get the same messge.

I thought when you do some optimizing that it will optimize that robot for that particular time frame and give you the best imputs to use, am i missing something ot not!

Why am i getting the same error message and nothing seems to optimize, even though it will backtest just fine!

Optimizing doesn't automatically optimize...it's a tool for you.... Under Expert Properties if you check the box next to a parameter...then set the Start, Step and Stop...the program will test EVERY possibility between the start and stop at the step you set. The result will show under optimization result if any are profitable.
Also you MUST pick a start/ stop date. The more parameters you try to optimize...and the longer the test days...the more time it will take to optimize. If you pick too many parameters to optimize at once it will not work either...hope that helps....BillR

I dont know a whole lot about it but, i have never been able to optimize unless the results are profitable. But you need to set the start, step and end values on whichever variable you want to optimize plus put the check mark in the left column. Unless you have a super fast computer or a lot of time dont do more than 2 variables at a time.

Sorry if this answer is too remedial.

Are you able to post the steps that you took to remedy your situation please as I would like to know how to optimize effectively. If it is not allowed to be posted on this forum perhaps you could also PM me the info?
