Default Result differences between backtesting and demo testing

    Hi

I have been testing the OpenTiks, MACD RSI Crosses and PerceptronOscill v1 expert advisors live on demo accounts and backtesting. However, the results I get when backtesting the same period that I have been demo testing are very different.

The Buys and sells occur at very different times and trades are closed at different times.

Please does anyone know why this is?

    Many thanks

You can use the "strategy tester" (backtesting) only to proof, if the EA trade at its rules and not if he is profitable.
    Thats my personally experience

    Hi pobo123,

The strategy tester has only 90% of modeling quality due to the fact that it doesn't take into consideration requotes, busy context, also there is no tick data in mt4 history. That's why you can get different results between backtesting and forward testing.

ok thanks - not sure this explains the differences though but i'll keep testing and see if i can work it out. it's probably something i'm doing wrong. thought it might be something obvious that someone might have come across before.

    cheers
