Thread: (Request) ProFX 2.0 EA

  1. #1

    Default Profx2

    Hi Funnyou,
I'm hoping that maybe you could do a similar thing with the profx manual trading system as you have done with the sniper system. Their are quite a few people trading with it at this forum
    Manual Trading Strategy - ProFx
I have the purchased the indicators and can confirm that the success that some of the traders are having is real. Their are 2/3 posters on that forum I take notice of.
Quite often the question of an ea comes up and is dismissed due to the discretionary nature of using the indicators. How ever the system is actually quite black and white. I would propose a ea that lets individual traders decide on what signals to trade on. For instance the profx05 indicator is an oversold/overbought indicator and most people will filter trades based on that indicator rather than blindly following the main buy/sell arrow. The other main indicator to look at is sup&res levels. People seem to use a fib indicator for this how ever profx has its own indicator.
With the right ea I would let the ea enter trades for me, then I would set up alert to my cell phone, so i could then check on the trades and decide what to do with them. Manually filtering out bad looking trades.

Let me know what you think. I could directly email you the package to look at if required.

    regards

    Default ProFx 2.0

    hey guys,

i also own this system and tried to create an ea for a few months.
all used indicators are pretty good but you have to be careful in interpreting the signals. as you maybe already noticed, in most cases does the trend exactly end if all indicators are pointing in the same direction and give a valid signal.

so i wrote the autor of the system to ask a few questions.
you can take profx03 and profx04 also if they just point in the right direction and values are below/above zero.

for profx10 i recommend to take this signal in bar 0, that means in the current running bar. dont wait until you get a closed bar with a profx10 signal.

another important thing are the gbp and usd sessions. interpret them as two different sessions. be careful when you leave trades open during the close of the london and the open of the us session.

and last but not least, think about the timeframe. m30 doesnt seem to be the best timeframe at all, but this is my personal opinion.

    wish you all the best!
    mike

ps: im not a friend of overbought oversold indicators in lower timeframes than h4 ;-)

we added also h4 main trend and trade will be opened if all indicators agree w main trend. about trades ea can open 2 positions (1st w short t/p and 2nd w 50 pips for erusd and 100 pips for gbp). we also added s/r and set "value" of pipsaway from s/r line to avoid trade...

    Default EA

This is the EA plus the 2 addtl indicators. As mentioned by mk77ch the method requires some special attention, so maybe an EA is not ideal trade it. Nor M30 seems to be a good tf to trade a trend strategy. Feedback is welcome.

    Thanks Rolf,
I'll look at it. Are you happy to make any mods if I make a suggestion? Also I guess what I'm saying is this perhaps should be an trading aid, rather than a hands off ea. I can't always be at the computer how ever if I can check it at varous points of the day I can change the trades if they arn't looking good. My timezone is australian so bedtime is about 4 hours in to the euro markets. I figure I can check the ea before bed then when I get up at the end of the US markets.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Nevic
I can make modifications, whether as a EA or a trading aid as you say. I am aware that trading a strategy with an EA is a hard thing to do as the typical visual judgment of the charts with support and resistance and other factors is missing. But maybe we can state additional rules which have to apply to make the EA more reliable.

Having a quick look at the ea, and I have some questions.

Whats the maxcandledistance?(is this for when a new session starts and looking existing indi's)

Can I get it to ignore main trend totally?

Also can I get it to ignore S&R? I prefer to review this manually

What does the "use pivot levels" in the order section do?

Ok also how might I implement the below strategy using the ea:

    1. M30, enter on the first or second completed candle in the same direction AFTER entry arrow
    2. Only enter long if ProFX05 is above 50 and below .05. Only enter short if ProFX05 is below 50 and above -.05.
    3. TP 100, SL 70. Once trade reaches 50pips use 35pip TS. (this is easy)
    4. ProFX exit rules apply (ie, contradicting arrow, close of US session, etc.). (what are the close rules on this ea?)

The last thing I would love to implement is for the ea to SMS my mobile when it decides to enter a trade.

    Thats all for now.

    Thanks
