    Default Need some EA guide...

This might sound like very obvious to some of you, but not to all. As I test different EA's here, the majority have some basic structure and repeated features such as:

mm (money management...what does it do & how if you set it to True?)
    basketdollars
    oppositeclose
    maxtrades,

and the list goes on and on. I read all the stickies & couldn't find anything that will fully explain each feature and what it does. I want to start tweaking a few EA's, but want to know what am I affecting. I rather do this than ask somebody "hey can I copy your set??" or FunYoo, can you optimize?.

Any help will be appreciated. Dan

You could start by looking into code to find out what each parameter does, if not that just single out each element in a profitable set and play with it. Each ea here is a powerful tool, but few traders actually want to harness that power to its full potential. None the less, you can study optimization and come up with some example set files for different ea's until you get a hang of it. You can also create a thread called optimizing ea's where we pick an ea and collective optimize it untill we get a good result, than post it in an appropriate threads. I believe its worth a shot.

Thanks...you gave me an idea with the code. For now, I'm just interested in one specific EA ...with 41 different parameters. Its going to take a while to isolate each one, but its worth a shot.

ApacheDan's the man with a plan

Somewhere on this vast internet their must be a site that offers some simple explanations for the various EA parameters for the silent majority who can't read code.

If someone could point to it (or write it) I think it would vastly limit the number of newbie type questions that seem to bug the elite of the Elite.

    Hi ApacheDan,

As said Cyrillic, you can find explanations into the code. Otherwise post your questions here :

    New member basic help files.

I will then create an annex in the first message.
