Thread: Funyoo - How do you do with Dukas Copy?

  1. #31

Default Big problem with this way!

    Agentrfr:

The backtest stopps at 2008-03-05 @ 20:05 despite that i have downloaded .bin files from 2007-03-30 to 2010-08-31.

And the part of downloading was no problem. It went perfect. Once i had all the .bin files i processed them to a CSV file.
Put it in the correct folder and used the convert script on the timeframe i was going to backtest on. I made a FXT file and HST files. Then putted them into correct folder. Closed the terminal and reopened it with the special loader.

Started my backtest on custom time from 2007-03-30 to 2010-08-31 but when tester reaches 2008-03-05 it stopps out.

When i run the tester with control points... well, then it runs thru the whole period.

I have a friend that also tries to make a good backtesting with this method. He has the same problem but not on EURUSD but on EURCHF.
On EURUSD everything works out fine for him but on EURCHF it stopps premature.

My CSV files are the same size as his and we are using the same script.

    Please advice.

Sorry for epic long non-reply, I didn't see this post until now.

As far as I can tell, the hex placement for the files uses a different syntax for each different mt4 terminal/broker. You will probably find your friend has a different broker's terminal.

Also bear in mind that mt4 is completely 32bit based, meaning it can only hold place in RAM for a maximum of 2GB. You will need to make each FXT file less than 2GB. (Do it year by year is safe bet: i.e. 2007.01.01 - 2007.12.31 then another HST file for 2008.01.01-2008.12.31 and so on).

A bit finicky, I know, but apparently mt5 will be 64bit based with 32bit emulation runtime, and wont be a problem in the future.

    Best luck!

    Ryan

Oh and make sure the PC you are testing on has at least 512MB more than the size of the FXT file. You could also be having a thrashing issue.

Max size for fxt is 2gb. You will need to break the data down into segments of about 18 months - 2 years.
