Default How to encrypt EA/Lock ea only to one user

HI. I thinks its going to be a good thing for this forum to find out how to :

    1. encrypt an EA, so no one sees a code
    2. create a key for ea, so it is used only on one computer

    Thanks

TK Yes, I'm sure it is but....although I don't speak for admin.....we share here not exclude or keep out.....we try to improve code as everyone can make improvement ideas....and not to monopolize......or protect...We try to improve all of our accounts...not only our own.....Although we do respect ones right to profit from ones own work if so inclined...and to share only with friends or reciprocally in many situations....I don't think protection from others will grow the site (or our individual accounts) in general.....The focus should be strategy and what makes money instead of how we can profit from sale of EA's...BillR

I don't think there's any harm in knowing what to do. Whether people decide to implement it is down to them.

It's easy enough to code time expiry dates and account locking features into an EA or indicator. The code is inserted towards the top of the start() function. If the EA fails to pass the test because it's expired or the account is invalid, it produces a message box alert and returns to the beginning.

For tougher security, the basic principle involves passing data between the EA and a C++ DLL. The important logic is contained within the DLL. The DLL can also self-validate on start and at regular intervals thereafter (in case it's running on a 24/7 VPS) against a server-side ASP (Windows) or PHP (Linux) which contains registration data.

A common technique often used is to match a user password against a network card MAC address. There are also proprietary solutions to this ranging from $50 to upwards of $500.

It's not a 5-minute job to produce something like this and you'll almost certainly be better off paying a professional to do it.

Great idea jeezer...we'll do the work, all the testing....and you lock it up and sell it on your web site...Yep...that's what FX is all about.....I guess if your EA worked you wouldn't need to make your money selling EA's

Well that's a bit unfair, seeing as:

    1) I was trying to help by answering a question that nobody else had even attempted to do.

    2) It's a common technique employed by many software vendors and can also be used to offer free trials.

    3) You know nothing about my EAs to know whether they're profitable or not.

    4) I've never hijacked anybody else's code and have only ever tried to help people on this forum.

    5) In addition, I don't need to steal other people's code because I already know how to trade without resorting to lottery systems.

So I don't know why you've got a big chip on your shoulder, but it's really not healthy.

Jeezer....Jeez...you're missing the point...This isn't a site for commercial vendors or a forum for commercial vendors to develop their wares....or their/your software protection schemes. Take your EA for sale mentality to MQL4.com, that would be the proper forum.

Oh sorry, I must have missed the bit in the T&C's that said I could only post things that BillR wanted to read. I must have also misread the thread title because I was sure it had a question in it somewhere about software locking. How stupid of me not to have realised that I wasn't meant to answer the question.

Maybe you could scroll through some of the other threads on the forum and tell me in advance if there's more threads that you don't want me to post on, because that would certainly save me some time and trouble. I'm sure the people asking the questions on those threads would certainly appreciate it too.

Or should I just zip my posts up and send them to you in Woodstock for pre-approval before I post next time?

Btw, Funyoo, if you read this your server seemed to go down as I made my 01:21 post and somehow managed to index it twice. It also shows as timed at 12:10. Could you delete the 12:10 post please? Edit: Don't worry - I've deleted it myself. I didn't know I could do that.

Yes, I have a lot of server down issues these days. I will move to another host when I will have more money.
