What type of trader are you.....I would like to know more about you, including funyoo....
Personally I'm a part time trader, I work full time and only have a few hours a day to trade, currently I am down about 20% of my initial deposit and my worst trades have all been self inflicted , I have decided to find the best of the best EA's and let it do its thing.
I have three commercial EA's running and am getting reasonable results from them, I also have just started using correlation strategy EA with good results so far, multi-channel RSI scalper with good results and
Taichi DeMarker EA, which has been a good steady EA so far.
I have all my EA's on very conservative settings and my biggest problem is being impatient and trying to manually trade...no good!!!

Im a sw developer working privately full time for 3rd parties. I am interested in Forex market just because the huge money are moving arround it . I am not quite a full trader, only 1 year of learning, own robots demo testing and real live money tests using these EAs. I never traded manually and I am not going to do it ever!! Some of my robots worked ok, others failed, but I am keep trying go on until I will build a business in the Forex if possible. I estimate another 1 year of work to get it done.. if it will work..of course. I dont want to get rich and earn money in this period , try to minimize the losses and I do not invest too much money for moment.

    Hi blackdog,

I have almost used only martingale strategies in my trading. According to my experience, these systems are those that survive the longest time. However, they are also the most risky. One strong market movement against us (it happens 2-3 times per year) and you lost everything. With the new ECN brokers, we should be able to work with few scalpers. And I think that some systems that can not be backtested like correlation have a lot of potential.

    funyoo,

the problem is how we backtest the system nowadays. I must remember all that one of the past more reliable brokers - alpari-uk - is now a very unfriendly broker for small investors (less than 20k), and his demos are just not reliable for backtesting - they show spreads that are much less than standard and micro accounts, making almost any backtesting system useless.

It is time to find another broker to backtest, preference one with fixed spreads.

    Hi civfan,

    That's correct,

In the future I will only work with Broco Trader that proposes fixed spreads. Although, I am getting some issues with the platform when there are several MT4 opened on a same server.

We could also work with ActivTrades, MasterForex, or TadawulFX.

As I said I use live account for tests. So, when I do backtests, I log in my live account; the tester will use the current spread which is larger than the demo; more, I run sometime the backtests friday-end when the spreads are almost double. Some for the optimization process. For live tests, I have some bucks in the live account and I run the robots using the lowest risk with 0.01 lots.

Forex is the buying and selling currencies, because then we would be able to trade with the maximum and comfortable if we already have the skills and good trading psychology.

I'm intraday trader in FreshForex. But i think both intraday, scalper, etc, we must understand market movement, understand the characteristic of pair we use for trading. We can use forex analytic from broker to help us know when the right moment to make order.
