Default Backtesting speed on MT4 : SATA hard drive vs SSD

Let's test here the speed of Metatrader 4 backtesting and optimization depending on the kind of storage device.

    Devices used here :

    SSD OCZ Vertex 4 - 256 Go
    Interface SATA 3 (6 Gb/s)
    Reading speed: 560 Mb/sec (SATA III 6 Gb/s)
    Writing speed: 430 Mb/sec (SATA III 6Gb/s)
Reading IOPS: 90 000 (random on 4Kb files)
Writing IOPS: 85 000 (random on 4Kb files)

    Seagate ST3750640AS Barracuda 750 GB SATA 3.0GB/s
    Interface SATA 3 (6 Gb/s)
    Sequential Write Speed 57.2 Mb/s
    Sustained Write Speed 59 Mb/s
    4K Random Read Speed 0.47 Mb/s

    Backtesting

    Between 2017.01.01 and 2018.06.26 :

    Moving Average.ex4 - default settings - EU M5
    SSD (standard) : 13.313s
    SATA hard drive : 13.359s

    MACD Sample.ex4 - default settings - EU M5
    SSD (standard) : 26.703s
    SATA hard drive : 26.265s

    Optimization

    Between 2018.02.26 and 2018.06.26 :

    Moving Average.ex4 - default settings - EU M5 - MovingPeriod 12-12-120
    SSD (standard) : 30s
    SATA hard drive : 33s

    MACD Sample.ex4 - default settings - EU M5 - SL 30-30-300 - TP 50-50-500
    SSD (standard) : 11m17s
    SATA hard drive : 11m20s

    Conclusion:

There is no difference. What would be interesting would be to do the same test on a recent NVMe M.2 device like the Samsung SSD 970 Evo NVMe M.2.
